Odaiba Seaside Park, known as Odaiba Kaihin Koen in Japanese, is a metropolitan park in Tokyo known for its beautiful views and diverse water activities. Established in 1996, this park on Tokyo Bay offers recreational and cultural experiences. Visitors can engage in water sports, bird watching, and attend annual events, but swimming is prohibited due to water quality concerns.

About Odaiba Seaside Park

Spanning both land and water with modern facilities, Odaiba Seaside Park is located in the Daiba area of Minato Ward. It was transformed from a former lumberyard into a destination near the city center. The Tokyo Port Bureau, which manages the park, initiated a renewal in 1996 to enhance its appeal.

Attractions include artificial sandy beaches, an observation deck, boating facilities, and a marine house with showers and lockers. Fishing and clam digging are allowed in designated areas, but swimming is prohibited due to coliform bacteria levels, particularly after rainfall.

A notable feature is the bronze replica of the Statue of Liberty, installed in 2000 to commemorate the “French Year in Japan.” The statue is a symbol of friendship and a distinctive aspect of the park. Visitors can also enjoy views of the illuminated Rainbow Bridge and Tokyo’s skyline.

The park has served as a backdrop for TV dramas and was the venue for the Triathlon events at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Paralympics.

Home to various bird species like the Black-headed Gull, Spot-billed Ducks, and Greater Scaups, the park also hosts events such as the Tokyo Dragon Boat races and the Festival of Lights. It’s a favored spot for watching the Tokyo Bay Fireworks Festival.

Odaiba’s origins date back to the Edo period when it was constructed as a series of defensive islands. Today, it provides access to Tokyo’s waterfront, offering a blend of leisure and entertainment.
