COVID-19 Adjusted Opening Hours

Many facilities across Japan have closed or altered their hours as part of a government mandate to reduce further spread of the coronavirus COVID-19.

Many locations that were previously opened have been closed with the announcement of a 30 day state of emergency.

Facilities that remain open are subject to heightened health safety measures, including hand sanitisation, social distancing rules and limits on the number of visitors. Some activities or areas may be closed. Please expect delays or disruptions during any visits.

Check local information before visiting.

About Miyajima

Miyajima is the common name for the island of Itsukushima in Hiroshima Bay. It is named for its famous shrine, which has made it a popular tourist spot for hundreds of years. With a large number of ancient religious sites, much of the island is covered with undisturbed forest.

It can be easily reached by ferry from Hiroshima for a day trip or overnight stay.
